Wadena: The Wadena School Division Board will resume contract talks today, December 8, at 1 p.m. with its striking school support workers and the provincial labour conciliator.

The education workers, members of CUPE 3078, have been on strike for 117 days.

The two sides last met at the bargaining table with provincial conciliator Doug Forseth on October 21.

CUPE 3078 president Donna Zarowny says shes pleased the employer is returning to the bargaining table.

All our members want for Christmas is a fair contract. If the employer drops its demands for concessions and bargains in good faith, we finally might be able to achieve one, she says.

The Wadena School Division was found guilty of three unfair labour practices in October, including trying to intimidate the striking school workers.

The Saskatchewan Labour Relations Board will hear two more unfair labour practices charges against the school board next week.

The division board also is in hot water with school electors, who are holding a special public meeting tomorrow night in Fosston, a small community near Wadena. The special meeting was requested by electors under the Saskatchewan Education Act.
