MEDIA ADVISORY

(Toronto) Downtown Toronto child care workers who began a strike some 270 days ago, will hold a vigil Tuesday night (March 27), to mark the imminent closure of Canadas oldest day care centre.

The employees of Victoria Day Care will be on hand at 7:00 p.m. outside the historic building on Jarvis Street just north of Wellesley.

These women and one man went on strike June 29th of last year to try and protect their pension plan. They all have now had their employment terminated.

The Victoria Day Care offered group care to 90 children and co-ordinated home care for another 260 children. The vast majority of these spaces were subsidized and being used by inner city families.
