(New Glasgow) – Today is decision day for the Board of Directors of Valley View Villa.  They are meeting to decide the fate of a bid from Sodexho Inc. to manage facility services.

Valley View Villa is considering a bid from the French-owned multinational corporation to take over management of the nursing home’s ‘Ancillary Services’, which CUPE Local 2330 argues will have a serious impact on the quality of care being provided to these residents as well as the number of jobs at the nursing home.

The union has also been waging a public campaign urging family members of residents at the facility and members of the broader public to find out more about what handing over our health care services to foreign-owned companies could mean for Pictou County.

Local president Betty Jean Sutherland says a petition with hundreds of names on it has been presented to the Board, urging not to accept the Sodexho bid.
