Delegates adopted several emergency resolutions, reacting swiftly to grim situations across the country.

The Université du Québec’s decision to implement pay equity by reducing male wages has angered employees, and on Tuesday CUPE delegates condemned the move.

Convention delegates promised their support for BC social service workers, now facing an assault on their collective agreements by the Liberal government of Gordon Campbell.

Delegates assailed the federal government for abandoning airline workers. They called on Transport Minister David Collenette to resign in the wake of the bankruptcy of Canada 3000, which threw 1500 CUPE flight attendants out of work last week.
