Ontario university workers have pledged their support to hospital workers facing off against the provincial governments contract-crunching Bill 8.

The University Workers Coordinating Committee pledged to bring out their members to protests planned in March, and to encourage members to take part in email/fax actions against the bill. The committee will also distribute literature on Bill 8 to its membership.

Bill 8 essentially paves the way for the government to restructure Ontarios hospitals through privatization and contracting out.

We are on a collision course with this government on the issue of privatization of health care, says Ontario Council of Hospital Unions president Michael Hurley.
