Some 120 clerical employees of the Université de Sherbrooke, in southern Quebec members of CUPE 7498 will strike Mon., April 18th. The action will mostly affect the universitys administrative services and not the students. This is not a general strike; the university employs about 700 clerical workers.
Unless we reach an agreement, the workers will be on strike for three weeks, said local president Alain Aubé. We want to send a warning to management, which has been making the same compensation offer since negotiations started.
