Fourth in a series of short videos on some of the myths we hear too often on the public health care system.

The facts are clear: privatization doesn’t lower costs or wait times, but does lower quality. Then, why is it that we keep hearing about the “benefits” of privatization? The answer becomes clear when we look at who stands to benefit from increased privatization.

This video explores these questions with a panel of experts: Bob Woollard, Bob Evans, Damien Contandriopoulos and Natalie Mehra. Moderated by Erica Johnson, from the CBC, this panel of experts debunks some of the myths surrounding the “crisis” of the Canadian public health care system and the need for further privatization.

Produced by the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), 2011. Excerpts from CUPE’s National Health Care Sector Meeting held in Victoria, British Columbia, in the fall of 2010.
