With the Christmas season in mind, community activists in New Westminster will raise a Tree of Hope Friday, Dec. 5 as the next step in their campaign to fight the Campbell government’s decision to close St. Mary’s Hospital.

All concerned are invited to attend the Friday evening event at the Royal Centre Mall at the corner of 6 Street and 6 Avenue in the Royal City to show our determination to save St. Mary’s. Live entertainment and family activities begin at 5 p.m., while the official lighting ceremony of the Tree of Hope begins at 7 p.m.

The event is sponsored by the Save St. Mary’s Coalition, a broadly-based organization that’s harnessed significant support from a wide variety of groups and individuals - including business -to take on the government over the closure decision.

The coalition will also be distributing Save St. Mary’s lawn signs at the Tree of Hope event.
