We have just learned with great sadness that a brother from CUPE 416, Toronto Civic Employees Union, has died while on duty. CUPE offers its deepest sympathies to his loved ones and his union brothers and sisters.
Also, our thoughts for a quick recovery are with a co-worker who has been injured in the same tragic accident.
CUPE supports the efforts of Local 416 to understand what happened and to prevent workplace injuries and deaths in the future.
“This is a sad reminder of the many hazards our members are facing at work day after day. Reducing risks for workers is our constant battle. We will honour the memory of our Local 416 brother with renewed efforts to make our work safer,” said CUPE National President Paul Moist.
