CONCEPTION BAY SOUTH, NL – After 30 years of using a private contractor, the Town of Conception Bay South (CBS) has decided to bring its residential garbage collection services in house.
CUPE Local 3034 President Warrick Cluney says, “We have come to an agreement with the Town on a five-year trial basis, which will see our own employees providing this important service to the residents of CBS.
“In addition, we’ll be hiring four new employees to do the work. They’ll be working four, ten-hour days. These new employees will enjoy all of the benefits of the current union contract, so we are very pleased that CBS has made this decision and we are looking forward to taking it on,” says Cluney.
