TORONTO – Front-line staff at the Toronto Zoo, members of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 1600 voted last night to accept a contract offer that was hammered out last weekend.

Seventy-two per cent of the staff that attended the meeting, 103 people, voted to accept the five-year contract and 41 staff voted against endorsing the deal.

CUPE 1600 represents approximately 170 permanent employees and 200 seasonal and casual workers at the zoo.
