Picket lines have gone up at the Thunder Bay District Health Units Board of Health.

The 40 members of CUPE Local 1759 voted 97 per cent in favour of job action last night and lines went up at three locations this morning. The main issue in the dispute is wage parity with other Northern Ontario health units.

CUPE represents health inspectors, RPNs (Registered Practical Nurses), dental hygienists, clerical staff and computer technicians at the board. They have been working without a contract since December 1999.
