Toronto – Today, the Provincial Legislature resumed sitting two weeks early to debate a McGuinty Government bill that would strip tens of thousands of education workers of their right to free collective bargaining, creating an unnecessary crisis in Ontario’s education system.

Tomorrow, thousands of school board support workers, educators and their supporters are expected to assemble on the south lawn of Queen’s Park to raise their voices in opposition to this unprecedented attack on working people by the McGuinty Government.

The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Ontario, which represents 55,000 school board support workers across the Province, has helped to organize this rally, along with the Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario (ETFO) and the Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation (OSSTF).

Notice to assignment editors and photo desks: Representatives from CUPE Ontario, including President Fred Hahn and front line school board support workers, will be available for comment during Tuesday’s rally.
