BELLEVILLE, ON – The Algonquin & Lakeshore Catholic District School Board and the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 1479, are pleased to announce that the parties have reached a tentative, four-year collective agreement, subject to ratification by the respective parties.

Wayne Bresee, CUPE LOCAL 1479 President, says, “thanks to the solid support from the members, and the positive influence that Director of Education Mr. Michael Schmitt brought to the table we were able to come to a successful conclusion in these negotiations.”

Mr. Schmitt, commented, “I know that this settlement is a good foundation for building stronger relationships with our CUPE staff.”

Tom Dall, Chair of the Board commented, “I am personally pleased at the progress achieved for our CUPE staff and know that our children and parents have been well served today.”

Details of the settlement will be released, following ratification by both parties.
