A tentative agreement has been reached aimed at producing a new local collective agreement following talks between CUPE 4340 and the Conseil scolaire catholique MonAvenir (CscMonAvenir).

The parties reached an agreement in the wee hours of the morning last January 22.

CUPE 4340 represents about 165 members employed as cleaners, caretakers and head caretakers at the CscMonAvenir. The board has a network of 61 French-language Catholic schools located in an area stretching from Niagara to Peterborough and from Toronto to the Georgian Bay.

The tentative agreement still has to be ratified by members of CUPE 4340 and by school counsellors of the CscMonAvenir. Details of the agreement will not be available until it has been ratified by all parties, which should take place in February.

“We are thrilled with the outcome of these negotiations,” declared Sylvain Piché, president of CUPE 4340. “This collective agreement acknowledges how vitally important our members’ work is and ensures that students in the CscMonAvenir will continue to receive top-flight services.”
