CUPE contract talks are scheduled this week at four BC universities. Dates have been set at Thompson Rivers University, the University of Northern British Columbia, the University of Victoria and UBC.  Job actions continue at several campuses ranging from overtime bans to picket lines.

The new bargaining dates follow job action and a tentative agreement last Wednesday with CUPE 2950 at UBC – the first for CUPE workers in the sector during this round of bargaining. The agreement for 1,500 clerical, library and hospital employees includes no concessions and wage increases of 2+2% in the final two years of a four-year deal.  CUPE’s 12,000 support workers and teaching assistants at BC universities have been bargaining for more than two years for a new contract. The main issues are job security, inflation protection and a fair wage increase.
