Nova Scotia school board workers are taking on a food fight, opposing the selloff of cafeterias in 16 schools. Workers at the Chignecto-Central Regional School Board, members of CUPE 3890, are planning a public campaign and lobby to convince parents, taxpayers and board members that privatizing the successful cafeteria operations is the wrong move.

Armed with evidence the cafeterias are making money, the local argues selling off the cafeterias doesn’t make sense for kids or the bottom line. A lobby campaign that includes a detailed presentation to the school board is planned for the coming months. The sale is planned for the end of the year.
