The head of Taiwan’s disease control agency says contracted-out hospital cleaning and laundry helped spread SARS. HEU is pointing to the official’s damning conclusion as more evidence not to contract out BC health support services. The head of Taiwan’s Centre for Disease Control told a Taiwanese newspaper that, “[contracted out] nursing aides, cleaners and laundry workers were not the hospitals’ formal employees. The hospitals, therefore, could not efficiently manage these workers.” Su Ih-jen also told the paper he wants hospitals to take direct control of all contracted out work to improve infection control.
