The Council of Canadians Climate Justice for People and the Planet campaign has fully launched its multi-media tool System Change Not Climate Change.

This project features videos from a range of speakers including academics, workers and activists who address why we need system change while providing examples of new ways forward. David Suzuki and Naomi Klein are two of the many presenters, which also include John Cartwright – President of the Toronto and York Region Labour Council – who speaks about green job growth in his community.

Maude Barlow in her video clip challenges viewers to change their relationship with nature to help ensure a sustainable future. Chief Jackie Thomas from the Saik’uz First Nation talks about opposing a proposed pipeline that would bring tar sands crude to the British Columbia coast thereby threatening her community.

Lawyer Steve Shrybman describes how international trade rules and corporate globalization undermine prospects for dealing with the pressing social and ecological crises of climate change. Bill McKibben – founder of 350.org and renowned environmental author – talks about why action on climate change is urgently needed now.

There are twenty-six videos in total on the site that aim to build awareness and inspire actions for climate justice in Canada and around the world by organizing community-based teach-ins.
