Joe Keithley and Utah Phillips at “The Life and Times of Ginger Goodwin”
concert at the Vancouver Folk Music Festival

VANCOUVER - A unique workshop at Vancouver’s 30th Annual Folk Music Festival featured a celebration of the life and times of Ginger Goodwin, the union activist, socialist, and “workers’ friend.” On Sunday July 15, Joe Keithley (DOA) and Utah Phillips gave a rousing concert honouring the legacy of Ginger Goodwin and examining how far things have really changed in the 90 years since his death.

The concert was co-sponsored by a variety of unions, including CUPE National, CUPE BC and the Hospital Employees’ Union. For those who want to hear it, CBC Radio Two will feature the concert on Thursday, July 19 between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. along with a concert by The Be Good Tanyas.
