A review of social assistance is currently underway in Ontario. The review is being conducted by a Commission appointed by the liberal government. CUPE is concerned that the government will enforce more strict eligibility criteria while at the same time reducing social assistance benefits. CUPE has met with the Commission to outline our concerns and recommendations for positive change which are discussed in the research paper.
