MEDIA ADVISORY

TORONTO Eighty striking workers at Jewish Vocational Service (JVS), a Toronto-area social service agency, will be joined by other striking CUPE members in the Toronto area for a mass solidarity picket from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 8th, on the North-East corner of Keele and Finch.

Members of CUPE 2137 will be joined by striking members of Local 3903, teaching assistants at York University, along with members of CUPE Local 3896, workers at Senior Peoples Resources in North Toronto (SPRINT) and members of Local 2563, childcare workers at Victoria Day Care, on strike since June 29th.

These workers come from different sectors and different workplaces, says Tia

De Agazio, President of Local 2137. But we all have one thing in common were fighting together for fair wages, decent working conditions and respect in the workplace.

(Attention Journalists/News/Photo Editors: Members for the four striking CUPE Locals in Toronto will gather for a solidarity picket at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, November 8th, on the North-East corner of Keele and Finch.)
