HALIFAX Striking employees of the Halifax Rehab Centre will hold a strike support rally at Province House tomorrow afternoon. The rally is scheduled for 4:30 p.m., July 17 and will take place in front the main entrance to the legislature.

Speakers will include:
  • Rick Clarke, President Nova Scotia Federation of Labour
  • Betty-Jean Sutherland, President CUPE Nova Scotia
  • Darrell Dexter, NDP Leader
  • Maureen MacDonald, MLA Halifax Needham
  • Carolyn Rothwell, President CUPE Local 1028
The Rehab Centre employees have been on strike since July 5. The main issue in the strike is severance pay for dozens of workers who have lost their jobs at the Centre.
