Striking City of Vancouver Workers, members of CUPE Local 15, have reached an agreement with the Greater Vancouver Food Bank to allow and assist in food bank distribution at three Vancouver community centres.

CUPE Local 15 President Rick Gates says the union wanted to ensure that its strike doesnt interrupt the distribution of food to those who need it most.

Were pleased that the Greater Vancouver Food Bank is respecting our picket lines and that they have agreed to distribute food only outside the doors of the community centres, says Gates.

Food bank distribution will take place (at the usual times) at:
Trout Lake Community Centre, Tuesdays, 9:30 am to 11:00 am
Ray-Cam Community Centre, Wednesday, 10:30 am to 11:30 am
Mount Pleasant Community Centre, Fridays, 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm

Gates also committed that picketing CUPE workers at the three centres will provide any assistance needed by the Food Bank on distribution days.
