On November 27th, I attended Local 3078s picket line in Wadena, Saskatchewan. This group has been without a contract for over two years and the strike hit the 100-day mark on November 21st.

The key challenge in this dispute is that the employer decided to try to gut the collective agreement in the name of less union involvement and more employer flexibility. It is basically the same package of concessionary demands that our members in Biggar struck over last year. Our members in Wadena are determined to stick together until they get a fair and just settlement.

Please check the CUPE website (www.cupe.ca) for updates on all disputes and if one of our groups is on strike near your community, I urge you to visit your sisters and brothers on the picket line.
