Montra006c, Sunday, March 24, 2002 – Following intense bargaining throughout the weekend, the employees’ union and the TS came to an agreement in principle at the end of today’s session. The strike which was to have been called tomorrow morning has therefore been cancelled.

The 225 TS support employees, members of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE-FTQ), have been called to a general meeting to be held tomorrow at noon.

CUPE has over 6,000 members in the university sector in Qub0065c, making it the largest association of university employees in the province. It represents a large majority of the professional, technical, trade and office staff as well as lecturers. With close to 100,000 members in Qub0065c, CUPE is also the largest FTQ affiliate.
