Bus drivers for the Socit de transport de Sherbrooke (STS), who staged a one-day work stoppage in order to advance bargaining, have suspended their strike.

Andr 0042oucher, president of CUPE 3434, says the return to work “does not mean that everything has been settled and all is going well.” But he says the local will monitor progress at the bargaining table and act accordingly.

Outstanding issues include wages, breaks, the length of the workday, contracting out and part-time drivers.

The 115 STS drivers earn a flat rate of $18.65 an hour, significantly less than drivers elsewhere in the province.
