Hundreds of community social services workers, clients and supporters will join a public rally on the Vernon courthouse steps at noon on Friday, January 18.

We are deeply concerned about the devastating impact the B.C. Liberal governments cuts will have on our community, says Eileen Podanowski, a community social services worker and member of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 523.

It is unacceptable for this government to be hurting the people who are already the most vulnerable in our society children at risk, families in distress, and people in adult community living care. Its not the way to build strong communities, Podanowski says.

These cutbacks will affect everyone. We hope many citizens will join us to protest the loss of services, and to show solidarity with the many government workers in our community who will be losing their jobs. This is not what people voted for.

Various speakers will address cutback issues at the rally tomorrow.
