What’s big and yellow and teaches kids to stay safe?

Sammy the Snow Plow!

Every winter Sammy the Snow Plow, along with his team of CUPE members, visits elementary schools across Nova Scotia. Together, they teach kids about the dangers of playing in snow banks or hiding in ditches – places where the snow plow operators might not see them.

Over the last few years, Sammy the Snow Plow took part in exhibitions and local Christmas parades around the province. This year, Sammy showed up at the parades in Bridgewater, Middleton and Antigonish.

For two years running, Sammy won first place in the Antigonish Christmas parade. Sammy also won first place in the Highland Games parade. From their first place finishes, Local 1867 donated the prize money to St. Martha’s Hospital Pediatrics floor.

Congratulations to everyone who participated!
