CUPE calls on federal government to reject ballistic missile defence

Dec 17, 2004 01:40 PM

CUPE's national executive board called on the federal government to reject the US ballistic missile defence system and encouraged the government to allow a full debate on the issue in parliament.

The board adopted a motion reaffirming the union's convention policy against the ballistic missile defence system and the weaponization of space.

CUPE also pledged to support the NDP and Bloc Québecois in their opposition to the BMD system.

The NDP has an online petition against the BMD system on their web site.
