VANCOUVER – CUPE members at Simon Fraser will continue to slow down administration functions at the university even while the local executive heads back to the table for another round of mediation talks with the employers.

“Strand Hall and the Library will once again be the focus of our actions today,” said Lynne Fowler, President local 3338 SFU support staff. “Those are the areas where we can most affect the administrative flow without interfering with students. After all, “said Fowler, ” most students are unbelievably supportive and this is as crucial a time for them as it is for us.”

Some of the jobs handled by the 800 CUPE 3338 clerical, service & technical include maintaining information technology, shelving books, life guarding, handling science labs and equipment, preparing payroll, answering phones, registration for courses event photocopying exams.

Today, many of those jobs will be on hold as the rotating strikes continue.

Plans for future job actions will be announced on the local’s website at www.cupe3338.bc.ca.
