WEYBURN - Members of the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 4110 in Weyburn are encouraging residents to blow their horns for public health care on June 14, as part of a national Day of Warning to stop private health care.

CUPE health care workers and other union activists in Weyburn are planning a car calvacade through the city during the noon hour.

The Medi-Care-Avan will feature a parade of honking cars decorated in placards. The procession will begin at the Weyburn General Hospital at 12 noon and wind through the Citys downtown to T.C. Douglas Centre, where a few speeches will be served up and lunch will be sold!

Residents are encouraged to show their support for public health care by joining the Medi-Care-Avan. Register your car, truck, bike, bus or buggy by calling the CUPE union office at 842-1559. Vehicles will assemble in the parking lot at the Weyburn General Hospital between 11:30 a.m. and 12 noon.

Communities across the country are participating in the Day of Warning to demand the federal government take action to protect Medicare from privatization and free trade agreements.

It is sponsored by the Canadian Union of Public Employees, the Canadian Federation of Nurses Union, the Service Employees International Union and the National Union of Public and General Employees.
