CUPE members can now register for the Blue Summit – a national meeting that will energize the campaign for public water.

It’s been a decade since the founding of Water Watch. CUPE and the Council of Canadians are co-organizing the Blue Summit to mark the anniversary.

Register soon for this free event, being held in Ottawa from Nov. 27 to 29. CUPE’s reserved block of discounted hotel rooms is available until November 6, 2009.

CUPE water activists – including water workers and other members interested in water issues – should plan to attend the summit. CUPE will host a caucus of members attending the summit the afternoon of Friday, Nov. 27, starting at 1:30 pm at the Marriott Hotel.

The weekend will kick off with a 10th birthday party for Water Watch on Friday night. Over Saturday and Sunday, participants will learn from each other’s victories and challenges, building a plan for the next decade of promoting public water and wastewater services.

The weekend is a combination of plenaries, workshops and caucuses that aims to renew and broaden our coalition in Canada.
