FREDERICTON – New Brunswick home support workers, members of CUPE 4598, have voted in favor of the tentative agreement reached earlier this week with the Red Cross.

We are pleased with the new collective agreement. Depending on their years of service, the workers will receive a salary increase of between 18 and 20 per cent,” said Louise Thibodeau, CUPE representative.

We have improved benefits such as vacation pay, statutory holidays and bereavement leave. They also received some compensation for travel expenses,” said Thibodeau

The new collective agreement will expire in March 2009.

CUPE Local 4598 represents 300 home support workers in Richibucto, Miramichi, Acadian Peninsula, Bathurst, Campbellton, Edmundston and Grand Falls.
