Workers from Rail City Industries in Melville will present an enormous greeting card to MLA Ron Osika on Friday, January 12, at 1:15 p.m. in his local constituency office. The media is invited to attend.

The custom-made card, which is about 3 X 2, expresses the hope that the Coalition government will increase funding for wages to Rail City and other community-based agencies. It is signed by Melville area residents.

The workers, members of the Canadian Union of Public Employees, circulated the card as part of their campaign for equal pay with provincial government employees doing work of equal value. The average wage at Rail City Industries, which operates group homes and a vocational training centre, is only $8.00 an hour.

When the Rail City employees present the card to Mr. Osika on Friday, they will urge the Local MLA to make this issue a priority for the Coalition government. And they plan to return to his office at least once a week until that happens.
