A loophole in Québecs pay equity law that protected bogus pay equity plans will stay closed.

The Québec government has decided not to appeal a Superior Court decision nullifying part of the law that let a number of large employers escape their obligations to carry out pay equity.

They did the right thing, said CUPE Québec equality representative Annick Desjardins. An appeal would have unnecessarily delayed progress toward real pay equity plans.
