Water privatization threats continue to surface across British Columbia – and one key fight is for public sewage treatment in the Capital Regional District (CRD).

Last October, BC Premier Gordon Campbell promised funds for Victoria’s harbour cleanup, as long as the pro-P3 agency Partnerships BC gets to take a “hard look” at doing the project as a P3.

CUPE locals and Island Water Watch are working with environmental organizations to publicize an innovative, public Swedish model for treating waste as a resource.

The CRD’s final plan is due in June 2007. Visit CUPE BC’s water campaign site. www.keepwaterpublic.cafor the latest news and resources.
