After three years of complaints about delays and poor quality service, the Longueuil public transit authority has decided to end its maintenance management contract with Slivia, putting repairs and services back on track.

Slivias just in time strategy more often than not meant parts werent available to fix buses when needed.

The move comes at the same time that Montreals subway system scored a victory to strengthen its services. The subway received $309 million in funding from all levels of government to update its infrastructure from ventilation to the public address system.

The funding is the first of three phases of a $1 billion project. Another $1 billion will be needed to replace aging subway cars by 2006.
