The Quebec governments one-year anniversary brought thousands of activists into the streets to protest against privatization and government downsizing. Angry demonstrators voiced their disapproval of Premier Jean Charests support for public-private partnerships from health care to public transits, and his spending cuts.

Over the past year, P3s have increasingly become a buzzword among the Charest cabinet, raising concerns about the wholesale privatization of public services, resulting in massive layoffs and wage losses. The government has also raised fees for the provincial child care program and restructured the health care system.

Yet Charests record hasnt gone unnoticed. Polls show support for the government has plummeted.
