A March 23 conference on P3s in health care in Quebec was cancelled after hundreds of union activists flooded the streets in Montreal to protest. The conference was widely seen as a further step to speed up P3s in the health care sector.

In an effort to keep up the pressure on the Charest government and avert P3 hospitals in the province, CUPE joined with other health care unions under the FTQ banner to flag the dangers of P3s at a news conference held the day before the protest.

Citing problems with costs, quality and accountability, National Secretary-Treasurer Claude Généreux says, Its been very difficult to get any information about these projects, all on the pretext that the information is a trade secret.
