CUPE PEI has over 3,000 members, with 17 locals.

The union represents major sectors such as public education, health care, municipal services and post-secondary education. CUPE PEI has lead successful campaigns to fight privatization in long-term care facilities and education. The province is currently embarking on a campaign to fight contracting out of 911 dispatchers.

Lori MacKay was elected president of CUPE PEI in May 2011.
