Qub0065cs pay equity commission has awarded a group of crossing guards in Sainte-Julie, south of Montra006c a wage increase to $13 from $9 per hour.
CUPE had argued that a crossing guards salary should be considered for the purposes of pay equity to be $13, the same as that of the all-male crossing guards in nearby Rosemr0065. The pay equity commission agreed.
Now, whatever else happens with the pay equity process, the CUPE 1690 members in Sainte Julie will see their wages go up to the accepted level for a crossing guard.
