Leader of countrys largest union to deliver keynote speech on Thursday

Saskatoon: Paul Moist will make his first speech to a CUPE Saskatchewan convention tomorrow, March 11, as president of the countrys largest union. Moist, who hails from Winnipeg, was elected national president of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) in November.

Moist, scheduled to present the keynote address at 11 a.m. in Saskatoons Radisson Hotel, plans to talk to delegates about CUPEs vision to create stronger communities in this country and the need to restore a progressive tax system in Saskatchewan to support important public programs like home care and the human rights commission.

He also will talk to CUPE delegates about the unions strategic plan to strengthen members power at the bargaining table and step up the fight against privatization and contracting-out.
