Members of Parliament will vote this week on a private members’ bill that would help create a national child care program.

Bill C-303, the Early Learning and Child Care Act, directs federal funds to high-quality programs that are universal, accessible and accountable.

Observers suggest the NDP-sponsored bill has enough support from Bloc and Liberal MPs that it will pass second reading, but only if all its
supporters attend the vote.

If you’re in or near Ottawa on Nov. 22, CUPE and child care supporters are planning a pre-vote rally on Parliament Hill at 4:45pm.

If you can’t make the rally, email your MP to make sure she or he shows up for the vote, or, if you’re represented by a Conservative,  ensure she or he knows where you stand on the issue.
