Calgary - Calgarys 300 Paramedics served strike notice today. Paramedics, meeting on Monday evening, approved an escalating job action plan that could result in a full withdrawal of services. The first stage of these actions will begin this weekend. On Saturday morning, October 21 at 7:30 am paramedics will:

  1. stop collecting billing information from patients;

  2. will work no more than 48 hours a week when they are on-call;

  3. not relieve or act in management positions;

  4. report for duty 5 minutes before their shifts begin;

“We hope that these actions will be enough to prod the City into finally discussing our issues seriously”, said Bruce Robb, President of CUPE Local 3421. “They can end this right now by making paramedics a fair and reasonable offer that reflects the settlements received by CRHA paramedics and other health care practitioners. Its up to the City.”
