In its continuing attack on welfare recipients in Ontario the provincial government has introduced legislation to bar workfare participants from joining a union.
CUPE Ontario President Syd Ryan called the bill a violation of the Charter of Rights.
“If its the private sector, if its Wal-Mart, and McDonalds, or Kmart, or any of those organizations, well shut their business down, Ryan told reporters.
“Well put pickets outside and disrupt their business and at the end of the day, it wont be worth their while bringing in workfare people.”
