Money talks, and in Ontario corporate money is helping call the shots for P3 hospitals. A recent report reveals provincial health minister Tony Clement got major donations from corporations involved in all three consortia competing for the privatized Royal Ottawa Hospital contract. Many of the same corporations are in the running for the P3 hospital in Brampton as well. Clement raked in nearly $15,000, and the provincial Tories added over $250,000 to their coffers. Many of the corporations also donated to the provincial Liberals, which helps explain the opposition party’s reluctance to take a stand against P3 hospitals.
