One of Nova Scotia’s largest local unions has re-affiliated to the provincial division of CUPE.

The Nova Scotia Highway Workers’ Union, CUPE Local 1867, made the decision at its 33rd annual convention this past weekend.

Local 1867 represents some 1,400 men and women who maintain and repair the province’s roads and highways.

Division president Danny Cavanagh, who attended the convention, said, “We’re very pleased to see Local 1867 back in the division. This will strengthen our cause in a big way. We can all look forward to their active participation provincially.”

CUPE Nova Scotia has embarked on an affiliation drive as part of the national Strategic Directions initiative.
