Nova Scotia Highway Workers Union (CUPE Local 1867) President Gareth Drinnan says, Both sides have decided to resume contract talks, in the hopes of negotiating a new contract.

We also are in agreement that a negotiated settlement is always better than having a third party impose one on both sides, says Drinnan.

The provinces 1,600 highway and ferry workers have been without a contract since November, 2002.

Drinnan says, Were cautiously optimistic that by both sides coming back to the bargaining table in good faith, we can get this matter resolved.
