HALIFAX The union representing some 1,600 provincial highway workers in Nova Scotia has reached a tentative agreement with the provincial government.

Nova Scotia Highway Workers Union President Gareth Drinnan says, The deal was reached this week and is being recommended by the unions negotiating committee. No details can be released until the union holds a Board meeting consisting of its 18 unit presidents.

Following the Board meeting, ratification meetings are held across the province where members will vote on the agreement, says Drinnan.

The members of CUPE Local 1867 have been without a contract for more than two years.
